John has restored Jaguars since he was 16 years old. Each restoration, however, left him feeling a bit bored with the mediocre performance had from a 210 hp engine.

He started RestoGusto in order to offer fellow restorers the opportunity to build Jaguars that could achieve supercar performance standards while retaining their vintage appearance.

Greg has been rebuilding Jaguars since he was just out of high school – having apprenticed for a well-known Jaguar restoration shop back in his native, New Zeeland. Greg’s career includes having been an engine builder for TWR (Tom Walkinshaw Racing) that was part of Jaguar Race Team when they won Le Mans in 1988.

He has also performed engine development work for Jaguar, Aston Martin and Callaway. For the past 20 years, he has been doing custom engine building and dyno testing at his facility in Old Saybrook, CT. Greg led John to John Stowe, the engineer that designed the RG cylinder head.

John Stowe was a master pattern-maker for Pratt & Whitney for 30 years before going on his own. John runs his own foundry in Hartford, CT where he designs and casts aerospace components for that industry’s biggest companies.

John has a passion for engine design that gave birth to the highly successful RG cylinder head.

4.7 Stroker Kit:

RG truly believes that anyone rebuilding a 4.2 liter Jaguar XK6 engine should seriously consider stroking their engine – if they can afford to.  It makes a HUGE difference in driving experience!  When you stop to consider that pistons are expendable and that connecting rods and crankshafts must be reconditioned at a substantial cost to properly rebuild an XK’s bottom end, converting to a Stroker engine is not much more expense.

Each component in the kit is designed to work with the other components to yield the very finest stroker kit available. The RG Stroker crankshaft is unique from other 4.7 liter crankshafts on the market.  It uses Chevrolet “Clevite” Small Block rod bearings instead of the standard Jaguar rod bearings to reduce rotating mass.  Lower rotating mass means higher safe RPM operating range:

  • Forged piston & rod castings designed as high performance replacements for heavier original parts
  • Rods use Small Block Chevrolet “Clevite” bearings to reduce crankshaft rotating mass and connecting rod mass
  • Standard Jaguar connecting rods cannot be used with the RG stroker crankshaft
  • Pistons will yield a 10:1 compression ratio with RG cylinder head
  • RG Stroker crankshaft is made from S7 tool steel on state of the art CNC machine in the USA
  • Rod journals are hollowed to reduce rotating mass
  • Counterweights are balanced to lower mass connecting rods and pistons
  • Rear main journal has been machined to fit a modern rear seal to reduce oil leaking
  • Rear seal adaptor is included

Optional CP‐Carrillo® Connecting Rod Set:

Going to high grade forged CP‐Carrillo® connecting rods makes higher safe RPM possible. Higher RPM allows the engine to extract more potential from the RG cylinder head. When upgrading these components, it is advisable to recondition the OEM crankshaft and to have it nitride finished.

• Forged rod castings designed as high performance replacements for heavier original parts
• Rods designed to connect to OEM crankshaft
• Pistons will yield a 10:1 compression ratio with RG cylinder head (as will original Jaguar “9:1” pistons)
